SIX-TIME queens Barbados rebounded from their opening loss to current champions Trinidad and Tobago to crush Bahamas and remain in contention for a place in the finals of the 15th Caribbean Volleyball Championships (CVC)?being played here in Trinidad and Tobago.
Professional player and former double MVP Shari Matthews scored a massive 21 points inclusive of 19 vicious kills and two aces to lead Barbados to a key 25-22, 25-11, 25-19 victory over The Bahamas at the Jean Pierre Complex on Thursday night.
After matching scores in the first set, The Bahamas lost that set and then were undone by the spiking and blocking of the Bajans.
The Bahamas players never looked the team which created headaches and heartaches for Barbados during the 1990s when they won two of four clashes in the finals. It was only in the first set with Melinda Bastian countering that The Bahamas offered a challenge.
