Street not the place for children, says Jones

MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones today advised schools not to put students “out on the street” by themselves for apparent rule infringements.
He told reporters the streets were becoming very dangerous and that was not where children seeking an education should be without adult supervision.
He indicated that his thinking was students should not be sent home because the hemlines were a little shorter than recommended or the shoes were not precisely the colour the school required.
According to Jones, the emphasis of schools had to be on ensuring children were educated.
He was speaking following a presentation to students who sat the Common Entrance exam. (TY)
