CENTRAL AMERICA and the Caribbean could soon have a whole new meaning.
Mexico and its new best friends CARICOM yesterday committed themselves to a new relationship that will eventually see Central America’s political and economic powerhouse assisting the region in a myriad of ways, ranging from trade of goods to tourism development, and even sharing of education.
And guest of honour, Felipe Calderon, President of the United Mexican States, has already promised that the views and plans of the Caribbean would also be articulated to the world’s most important countries when the G20 Summit was chaired by Mexico in Los Cabos next month.
That should be good news for the region, since Prime Minister Freundel Stuart last week advised that it would be paramount for G20 countries to hear of the region’s issues through Mexico.
