Hilton Barbados will no longer be used as a means of earning foreign exchange, and is officially off the market.

And Minister of Tourism Kerrie Symmonds has promised that as long as the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is in power, the famous four-star property will remain in local hands.

“The Government of Barbados will not sell the Hilton. The Prime Minister nor myself are not interested in selling the property whatsoever,” Symmonds told THE NATION in a recent interview, officially bringing an end to a debacle which reached an apex last year when it was reported the property would have been sold to British real estate giant London Regional Properties Limited.

In fact, the property may even be in line for further improvement and expansion down the line. (BA)
