Issues “simmering” at Transport Board

General Secretary of the Barbados Workers Union, Sir Roy Trotman says yesterday’s industrial action at the Transport Board came about when simmering issues that have existed before rose to the surface.
The BWU boss at a press conference today, said employees at the Transport Board are ready “to get on with their jobs” even though many issues remain, and would do so while at the same time allowing the union to investigate a number of issues.
“The executive council of the Barbados Workers Union wishes to thank those grieved Transport Board workers who followed the instruction of the general secretary, and resumed work after yesterday’s work stoppage. When workers use the vehicle of the wildcat strike it signals that something is simmering below the surface, and is desirous of boiling over. It is clear this was such an occasion,” Sir Roy told reporters during the press conference held at the Union’s Solidarity house headquarters.
“It has to be examined much more fully so that resolutions can be properly arrived at,” the BWU head added.
The Union boss also apologized to the commuting public of Barbados, noting that the strike was not “fair” in causing them to suffer.
