Demand for chicks

With the woes of the worldwide recession continuing to bedevil everyone, Barbadians have been using every initiative they can think of to reduce their food bill.
One such initiative has been producing their own food, especially chickens.
Yesterday from 7:30 a.m. crowds of Barbadians armed with cardboard boxes lined up outside Feed & Garden Supplies on Nelson Street, patiently waiting to purchase broiler chicks to raise for their – and potential customers’ – dinner tables.
Unfortunately, a shortage of the chicks saw the crowd being forced to wait until noon, when a van turned up and offloaded chicks, to the delight of the crowd. (KB)
