HUNDREDS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL children across Barbados breathed a collective sigh of relief yesterday.
The months of extra lessons, restricted extra-curricular activities and preparation finally came to an end on E-Day.
The much anticipated Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination, also known as Common Entrance or 11-Plus, had arrived, and from well before 8 a.m. yesterday the children accompanied by parents, guardians and well-wishers were outside the gates of the 22 secondary schools across the island to take the exam that would determine their advance to a secondary school education.
Not as many tears were shed by children and parents as in previous years, but the floodgates were still open. Pre-exam nerves caused tears to spill down cheeks and some of the little ones complained for stomach aches.
