BWU’s cry

The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) has accused the Ministry of Labour of acting with unprecedented “violence” in its handling of labour management in the country.
This was one of the charges levelled by the BWU in letters copied to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The letters are linked to the union’s decision, announced last week, to split from the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), which is the country’s labour union umbrella body.
The strongly worded correspondence, seen by the SUNDAY SUN, was dated last Thursday and signed by the general secretary of the BWU, Sir Roy Trotman.
