Entertainers Edwin Yearwood and William “Smokey” Burke were treated like heroes yesterday.
The two are the 2012 St Paul’s Fiesta Heroes, and yesterday at the inaugural Mega Fun Zone, they received glowing words of praise from fiesta patron Larry Mayers, received awards and “rubbed shoulders” with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
Rector of the St Paul’s Anglican Church, Canon Wayne Isaacs, said they embodied the theme of the fiesta, Humble Beginnings, Great Talent.
The Mega Fun Zone replaced the king and queen competition this year, but featured attractions such as a petting zoo, bumper cars, a jumping tent with a slide and electric stock car racing, as well as an old games section featuring hopscotch, hula hoop and jacks and the So You Think You Can Sing? competition.
