Tis’ the season to do some cleaning and sprucing up around the house.
Even though Christmas this year has been tinged with a level of uncertainty and anxiety as a result of Government’s recent announcement that 3 000 public sector workers will lose their jobs, this grim news has not stopped Barbadians from keeping up with the many of the traditions associated with the season of joy and giving.
What many people have conceded, however, is that this Christmas season they will have to “do more with less” and many of them say they are prepared to be content with a little less than what they had become accustomed.
When a SATURDAY SUN team toured around the island, many Barbadians could still be seen painting up their houses, washing them down and decorating for the season.
What has made this year even more special for many Barbadians is the presence of relatives and friends who have been arriving in their hundreds from overseas to be home with loved ones for the holidays. (GE)
