Public and private sector representatives talked of Barbados as a superior tourist destination at a reception for 90 travel agents at Harrison’s Cave over the weekend.
Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association president Patricia Affonso-Dass described the country as a fantastic destination.
“Like all destinations, we’ve had our highs and our lows but at the end of the day the best thing for us is to know we have true partners in all of our markets that we can work with and I have every confidence that Barbados, with your assistance, will be right back at the top of the pile before we can blink an eye,”?she said.
“The meetings we have had this week, there has been hope in all of the meetings, signs that 2014 is starting to look positive, signs that we are starting to hopefully get back to a time when people are booking a little further in advance and things are maybe starting to look slightly more normal or whatever the new normal is.”
Urban Cumberbatch, acting president of the Barbados Tourism Authority, said he looked forward to the agents helping to bring business to Barbados. (RL)
