Barbados will be spending in excess of $10 million over the next 15 months to attract more event tourism to the island.
This was disclosed by chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) Adrian Elcock yesterday as he appealed to tour operators marketing the island to assist in the “aggressive thrust” to expand the event tourism niche.
Eighty one representatives from 65 tour operators in Barbados’ global source markets are currently here attending Connect Barbados 2013, organized by the BTA after a one-year hiatus.
With the theme Reconnect And Revitalize, the conference aims to reconnect the BTA with tour operators to revitalize interest in Barbados as a destination. (GC)
