CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank is warning its customers that an email purporting to come from its Customer Care Department seeking customer information is a fake.
The bank’s director of corporate communications, Debra King, told the WEEKEND NATION that the email, which carried CIBC FirstCaribbean’s well known logo, was actually a form of phishing that was “completely fraudulent”.
Moreover, she said the bank had moved swiftly to “have taken down the website associated with it”.
However, in the meantime, King warned customers not to click on the links within the emails or download the files. She also warned customers against submitting any personal information to the email.
Customers who received suspicious email claiming to come from the bank should forward them to [email protected]. (GE)
