Students to sit exam today

Nearly 4 000 primary schoolchildren will sit the Common Entrance Examination, better known as the 11-Plus, today.
A total of 3 968 students will write this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Examination compared to 3 961 in 2012 and 3 811 in 2011.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovtion, 2 040 boys and 1 928 girls will write the examination at 22 secondary schools.
Fourteen students have requested permission to do the test at an earlier age (at ten) compared to 11 last year. The ministry also reported that 128 students have requested deferrals until 2014 – 96 in Class 3 and 32 in Class 4.
