Democratic Labour Party candidate Mara Thompson says she is not looking to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart for any Cabinet post should she win the January 20 St John by-election.
That was Thompson’s frank position in an interview with the SUNDAY SUN at her Mapp’s, St Philip residence on Friday.
Asked whether she would like to be given a ministry, the candidate said it was not her focus at this stage.“Let me put it this way. If I were given a ministry, I can handle it. If I am not, it is no big deal for me. I think, though, not yet. I am not sure that I would want it as yet . . . ,” she said.
Thompson said the death of her husband, late Prime Minister David Thompson, was still the source of much grief for herself and daughters Misha, Osa-Marie and Oya.
She said that despite the wishes of her husband, it was the people of St John who had provided the impetus for her becoming further involved in politics at the elective level.
