Flying Fish roll away with win

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Flying Fish Ballers of Barbados got off to a winning start when the 2010 Segway Polo International Woz Challenge Cup rolled off at the Lion Castle grounds in St Thomas on Thursday.
In the first match of their title defence, the Diamond International-sponsored Flying Fish Ballers defeated another Barbados team, Net 2Vu Rum Runners, 4-0. Daniel Hatch, the star of last year’s victory, scored three of the team’s four goals.
Teams from Germany, Sweden and the United States are taking on the Barbadians, who won last year’s cup in Cologne, Germany.
The opening match of the championships saw After Shocks from the United States overcoming the German team, Blade Pirates, 4-2.
In Game 2, Junky Yard Dogs of the United States were thrashed 11-1 by the Funky Turtles of Germany, with the president of the Segway Polo Association, Olaf Funke, scoring seven goals for his side.
Black Rose from the United States defeated Saints from Sweden 4-2 in the third game. In the fifth and final game, After Shocks trounced Junky Yard Dogs 5-1 with patron and founder of the Segway Polo Club Steve Wozniak scoring two goals. The tournament ends today. (CH)
