The Alleyne School needed extra time to secure their spot in today’s final of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Netball League Under-15 Competition.
In the semi-finals held on Tuesday at the Netball Stadium, Alleyne came from behind in the previous three quarters to force an 18-18 draw against Foundation School, and then went on to beat them 28-20 in that extra period.
Nekela Jordan scored 22 from 43 and Tia Jones supported with six from 12 for Alleyne, while Cherisse Douglas scored 15 from 23 and Tyesha Warner five from ten for Foundation.
Alleyne, the former Under-13 champions, will play Garrison School in the final. Garrison beat Lester Vaughan School 25-18 behind Vanessa Reid-Cox’s 19 from 27 and six from 11 by Nikita President.
Lester Vaughan tried four different shooters, with Pheloria Jordan scoring eight from 12, but of note was Victoria McMillan who only had three from 11, coming after 18 from 20 shooting in the quarter-finals.
In the Under-13 division, Combermere defeated Foundation 13-6 and will play Springer Memorial who edged Lester Vaughan 9-8. (SAT)
