Lashaina succeeds with God’s help

PARENTS USUALLY want their children to read more but Lashaina Holford had to stop reading to study for the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination.“I like to read, so I had to start reading less and studying more. It was hard to do at first but I got used to it,” she said.The Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary student earned the fourth highest marks in the exam with a 97 in both English and Maths and an A in the composition.Class teacher Orlando Jones said she even used to borrow books from him.“I always believed she could do it and after inspiring the class to work hard with the mantra  ‘Yes I can’ and a strong belief in God, they really caught on and did well,” he said.Lashaina said she also had to sacrifice television and using the computer but she made it with the help of God.“Believe in yourself and trust in God and you  will succeed,” she said.
