When Destini Lynch sat the Common Entrance Exam on May 4, 2010, she did it with her mother’s advice in mind.Yesterday when she emerged the top female student in Barbados and third overall in the island, the words “do your best and don’t be nervous” were still fresh in her mind.A rather soft-spoken and reserved Destini was also among the youngest to do the exams, sitting at ten years old. She  received 98 in mathematics  and 97 in English language, amassing 250.81 with a B in composition and will be heading to Harrison College.Surrounded by her principal and schoolmates yesterday, who were overjoyed at the news, Destini told media personnel she was very confident on the day of the exam and always wanted  to go to Harrison College.“I wasn’t scared at all, there were no challenges, and I always wanted to go to Harrison  College,” she said.Destini, whose dream is  to be a doctor, resides at Lot No. 32, Farmer’s Terrace, St  Thomas,  and is the daughter of Coreen Lynch and Andrew Watson. Her principal Alicia Forde, in expressing her delight at  Destini’s achievement, noted she was one of three early sitters at the school.“I’m very proud to see what she has done. I expected it from the time she came here. I always knew she and the two others were good workers, even from reception,” Forde said.Destini’s mother, who arrived at the school about 45 minutes later, said she always knew her daughter would do well in  the exam.“I’m very proud of her. She has always set her goals high,” she said while hugging Destini.
