‘Easy breeze’ for Jones

It wasn’t too much of a surprise for Joshua Jones when he got the news that he was among the top ten students in the island.The 11-year-old student of Charles F. Broome Primary, who placed sixth overall in the island, amassed 98 in English and 95 in maths for a total of 249.68, with an A in composition.Sitting in his class looking relaxed, Jones – who  will be heading to Queen’s College at the start of the new school term – said all of the advice he had received on the morning on May 4, 2010, he just “followed it through”.“It was just an easy breeze for me. I did what  I had to do, so I wasn’t scared,” he said.Jones, who says he loves to play video games and read, lives with his mum Janna and dad Erwin Jones at No. 69 Welches Terrace, St Michael.His class teacher, Elsie Vaughan, who was happy with Jones’ achievement, said he was always a very diligent, quiet and thorough student with a very good command of the English Language.“I always felt he would be a top performer. He is  a very keen student, so I’m not surprised,” she said.
