Dental care tips for infants

THIRTY-SIX Grazettes Primary School Infants A pupils were recently shown how to effectively brush their teeth to avoid cavities.
The lesson came from paediatric dentist and president-elect of the Barbados Dental Association, Dr Toni-Michele Marshall.
The pupils were taught that they should brush their teeth four times a day. That is, when they awake in the morning, before they leave for school, after lunch and before they go to bed.
Marshall reminded the students that all children under the age of eight must be assisted by their parents with their brushing daily as the effects of the sugary snacks on their teeth lead to severe toothaches and absences from school.
The following week was dedicated to healthy snacks for the class. Then, fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, Granola bars and water were a few of the items brought to school.
The initiative is a joint effort between the dental association and Aqua Fresh toothpaste. (PR)
