THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA Labour Party (ABLP) looks set to reclaim the reins of government from the United Progressive Party (UPP).
To date, the ABLP has won two of the three constituencies which have been counted, but even more significantly, leads in 13 of the remaining 14.
Earlier tonight, Melford Nicholas won St John’s City East with 794 votes, defeating UPP’s Harold Lovell, who polled 682. Lovell was the Minister of Finance in the Baldwin Spencer administration.
The UPP had been leading in Barbuda and looked set to win there, but by the narrowest of margins, Arthur Nibbs edged Trevor Walker 485-484.
UPP’s Wilmoth Daniel won St Philip South, beating ABLP’s Lennox Weston 523-439.
The UPP, under Prime Minister Spencer, was seeking a third term. (SAT)
