‘Fund family life programmes’

The diocese of the Anglican Church is being encouraged to set aside a chunk of its budget to programmes to support family life as it has devoted this year to Stewardship In Family Life.
The plea was made by South African priest Rogers Govender, now based in England as Dean of Manchester, as he addressed the Anglican Diocesan Service at the Garfield Sobers Complex of the Gymnasium, this evening.
“If this year is going to be a priority for you in terms of the stewardship and family life, then the diocese should be responsible in setting aside resources to support this work,” he said.
Before an audience that included Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, president of the Senate Sir Branford Taitt, Archbishop of the province of the West Indies, John Holder, and Dean Frank Marshall, Govender, proposed a programme of no less than three years if the focus on the family life is to take root and bear fruit in Christian discipleship and witness.
