The Customs and Excise Department has seized a container of assorted cosmetic products in its continuing investigations into alleged under-invoicing of goods.
This was announced today by the Comptroller of Customs, Frank Holder.
He explained that the goods, which were consigned from the United States, were invoiced at a sum which the Customs and Excise Department has found to be approximately nine per cent of the real value. Investigations are continuing and a thorough check of the documents and goods are being done.
Holder added the importer will have 30 days in which to contest the seizure and may be allowed to pay the duties due and any applicable penalties.
Investigations will continue into other suspected shipments of such goods. (GIS)
