Market closing next week

VENDORS WHO SELL FOOD AND OTHER PRODUCTS in front of the Fairchild Street Market will be away from the area all next week as a result of the long-awaited removal of the market’s asbestos roof.
Senior environmental inspector Trevor King told some 30-odd vendors outside the market yesterday that removal of the asbestos would take place on Saturday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday and continue during the same hours Sunday, followed by a similar routine the next weekend.
The area is to be hosed down afterwards so that vendors can return by Sunday, July 1, or Monday, July 2.
King noted that throughout next week, therefore, the area would be closed.
