‘Let’s grow more food’

INDEPENDENT?Senator Dr Frances Chandler thinks that “some good starvation in Barbados” may be a wake-up call for people to get back to agriculture.
Chandler made this comment in the Senate on Tuesday night during  debate on a resolution to note and approve Protocol VI of the Social Partnership.
Government Senator Jepter Ince angrily walked out during Chandler’s presentation and later in the evening, another Government Senator David Durant, distanced himself from her comments.
Emphasising the need for food security and stressing that Barbados should produce more, Chandler hinted that Barbadians needed to be more self-sufficient.
