LOCAL?BODYBUILDERS have been leaving nothing to chance as they fine tune for the International Natural and the World Natural Bodybuilding Mr and Miss Universe Bodybuilding Championships which come off at the Steel Shed on Saturday.
Five of the local representatives, former Miss Bridgetown, Sophia Forte and Claire Barrow, along with the exciting Kirkpatrick Harris, William Morris and Jeffrey Gay, who is stepping up from the amateurs, have been using every opportunity available at the Flawless Concept Gym in Oistins to ensure that Barbados is well represented at the show.
Fans will not only get a chance to see that five in action as well as three other foreign-based Bajan reps, but the Steel Shed is expected to rock with challenges in the professional category coming from Italy, England, Canada and the United States.
With support coming from the Barbados Tourism Authority and Lammy Wrought Iron Works, organizer, Ivor Worrell was very impressed as he oversaw some of the training of the local contingent on Fathers’ Day.
“This is the second year that Barbados will be staging this internationally recognized competition and just from looking at the preparation of our local reps, I am confident that the fans will get their money’s worth.
“Last year we impressed the international body with our high level of organization and this year we intend to surpass that and complement our efforts with a tremendous showing by our Bajan muscle and routines,” said an upbeat Worrell.
On Saturday pre-judging will be held in the morning at 9:30 with the finals taking place at 6:30 p.m. (KB)
