15 yet to see severance pay

More than three months after being made redundant, 15 former employees of Precast & Premix Concrete Incorporated are yet to receive a cent of their severance packages.
Their frustrations came to a head at 10 a.m. yesterday, when seven of them gathered a few feet away from the company’s Black Bess, St Peter offices to protest what was described as constant delays in payment, especially as the Yuletide season draws nearer.
Former truck driver of ten years, Anderson Codrington, told the MIDWEEK NATION that before the workers were sent home on August 9, management of the Trinidadian-owned company promised initial severance payments would begin two weeks later.
“That turned into a month. So we held that in mind and then they said the money would come in two weeks and we waited,” he said in a telephone interview. (LW)
