Mark “Venom” Griffith is the fastest rising force in road tennis.
Griffith, 27, emphasised that over the weekend by outclassing and outlasting Curtis Jones 21-18, 21-14, 19-21, 26-28, 21-10 in a thrilling five-setter to capture the inaugural United Insurance Clash of the Titans Road Tennis Competition at the Wildey Gymnasium.
It was a fine performance from the supremely fit Griffith, who was made to fight tooth and nail by a resilient Jones, who stunned the large crowd by capturing the third and fourth sets.
It was the second crown of the year for Griffith, who won the Silver Hill Road Tennis Tournament in July. (MK)
