Fete, but behave better!

While Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley believes Barbadians could show more restraint at the Wadadah Back2School fete, he has stopped short of calling for its banishment.
“I agree it is a hugely popular event but I think it is one which should be held with grace. I think we need to be a bit more modest,” he said.
Lashley, speaking at the Heritage Feast at Hilton Barbados yesterday, said he attended the fete both last year and this year and called for participants to be mindful of their dress and behaviour.
“When I went to the fete this time around, I did observe some [behaviour] I would not necessarily encourage and I would like to appeal to those persons who hold that fete, [while] I think it is a wonderful idea, I don’t [endorse] the abuse of uniforms,” he said. (CA)
