Family and friends turned out yesterday to mark another milestone in the life of Millicent Yearwood.
Though she turned 105 on Friday, yesterday was the day for toasts and well-wishing for the former plantation worker and hawker.
“It is just that she can’t hear too well, but she can bathe, dress and feed herself,” Thompson’s only child 65-year-old Mavis Small-Raper told the SUNDAY SUN at the gathering at Yearwood’s home in Thompson Road, Fitts Village, St James.
The centenarian, who is not on any medication, still has a sharp memory.
“I feel all right to get to this age. God help me to get here,” said the grandmother of seven, with 20 great-grands and five great-great grands.
And she plans to go on.
“I will pray and ask God to help me to live longer,” said the former Welchman Hall Church of God member sitting upright and confidently in her chair. (AH)
