BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, July 19, CMC – The shareholder governments in the regional airline, LIAT, meet here on Friday to decide on a plan to replace the cash-strapped carrier’s fleet of iconic, twin-engine, turboprop planes, which might include the introduction of jet aircraft.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer told the Caribbean Media Corporation a meeting of the airline’s owners, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines – represented by the leaders of the three countries – are also expected to consider expanding its 21-nation network.
“We have agreed in principle already that the re-fleeting exercise has to be undertaken and we are also looking at the possibility of expanding LIAT’s operations,” Spencer said in CMC interview.
