Concern over death of 2 teens

TWO DROWNINGS in three days are two too many, and parents are being advised to be extra vigilant during the summer holidays.
The call came yesterday from president of the National Council for Parent Teachers’ Association, Rhonda Blackman and police public relations officer, Inspector David Welch.
Two families are now in mourning following the watery deaths of Bario Brathwaite, 18, of Fairfield, Black Rock, St Michael, on Saturday and Akeem Hackett, 17, of Joe’s River Tenantry, St Joseph, on Monday.
Blackman is urging people, especially those in groups, to go to beaches where lifeguards are stationed. She said it was also important for groups to alert the lifeguards about their presence so that the trained personnel could be vigilant.
