Licence to fete

SOME 18 PARTY PROMOTERS who stage shows across the island during the Crop Over festival have been granted licences to fete.
This development comes after some promoters had complained that the denial of licences to them by the Town Planning Department could have caused the abandonment of their “limes”.
Speaking to the media at a Press briefing yesterday, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said on hearing of the issue he held discussions with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who is responsible for Town Planning. This was followed by a meeting with the stakeholders last Friday. The major players at the meeting included officials of the Town Planning Department and the National Cultural Foundation.
 “We engaged also via telephone with all of the people whose names would have appeared in the media as having concerns.”
