Can you survive 24 hours of non-stop partying?  This question was posed to patrons who attended Brewsters Road Crew’s 24 last weekend.  Persons of all ages, armed with umbrellas and even picnic chairs enjoyed performances from artistes and deejays from across the region.Patron Jason Wiltshire, indicated that he was at the event from 3 a.m. the previous day and had no intention of leaving the party until he could boast of spending 24 hours dancing to soca music. He further said that he was always willing to support “anything BRC”.“Nothing can’t stop me,” said Shakira Layne as she partied in the rain. She stated that she was thoroughly enjoying the event, especially the many giveaways.
Around 10 pm, Rupee took patrons on a musical journey. In his intoxicating performance, Rupee slowed down the vibe to remember the contribution made to the music industry by the late Jermaine Forrester.  The HD Family consisting of Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy and Zan out of Trinidad, took the party to another level. The trio, in excellent vocal form, invited persons on stage to demonstrate the Heart of a Man. They maintained the uptempo vibe from the beginning to the end of their performance.  In a well executed performance, veteran Allan Shepherd, former lead singer of Spice & Company took the crowd down memory lane, encouraging everyone to “make noise”.
By 1 p.m., the venue was packed to capacity and persons were still coming in. Peter Coppin and Fadda Fox of Monstapiece brought high energy to the stage in preparation for the night’s grand finale.  The band KMC from Trinidad was the last performance of the night. The crowd raised everything from umbrellas, rags and even cellphones in appreciation of KMC’s performance. To the crowd’s delight the band performed popular songs from other genres.  As the 24 hour soca party came to an end it appeared that the “survivors” still had not had enough. Many stayed behind liming as if in anticipation of something else.  Though the crowd was massive and much alcohol on hand, there were no reports of any serious incidents.by Femi Mascoll
