NINE MORE medals, including five gold in the late session on Saturday night and early yesterday morning took Barbados tally at the Caribbean Union of Teachers Games to 27 (12-9-6).Yesterday morning, Cristanna McConney leapt to gold with 5.22 metres in the Under-13 Girls’ long jump, replacing the old record of 4.99 metres set by Talasiah Balgobin.Put into the event moments before it was scheduled to start, Kedane Pollard not only won gold in the Under-13 Boys’ cricket ball throw, he also put his name in the record books, with the 72m-throw, a full ten metres more than the previous mark.Brandon Hope also added to his gold medal in the high jump with a silver medal in the Under-13 Boys’ long jump, measured at 5.07 metres.Both Akeilia Knight and Winmalecia Bowen were fourth in the Under-15 Girls’ high jump and shot put, respectively.Late Saturday evening, Barbados placed in all of the 4×100 metres relays except the Under-9 Boys’ event where they were disqualified and the Under-15 girls’ who were seventh.The Under-11 boys, Under-13 girls and Under-13 boys all won gold; the Under-9 and Under-11 girls took silver and the Under-15 boys were third.
