If the workers of Barbados could provide that to their employers every day – ten per cent more time – then hundreds of jobs could be saved though increased productivity.
That’s the belief of president of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce, Andy Armstrong.
And he has the backing of this country’s largest trade union.
Both Armstrong and National Union of Public Workers’ (NUPW) president Walter Maloney believe increased productivity is a better way of safeguarding jobs than any proposed ten per cent cut in wages and salaries.
The two were speaking at the Combermere School Hall Monday night during a panel discussion hosted by the Combermere School Old Scholars’ Association.
