“ALL IS WELL! As long as God is in your situation, everything will come out right. All is well!”
Reverend Cleveland Codrington did not promise his congregation at Victory Pentecostal Church, Taitt Hill, St George, that all will be well. Rather, he assured them that “all is well”.
It was this message of hope garnered from 2 Kings, Chapter 4: 22-26 that I and members of this church took away with us after the morning service of June 10.
The message came on the heels of a “glorious worship session” with special ministry in song and uptempo singing of selections such as Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord, How Great Is Our God, I’m Not Sorry and We Want To See Jesus Lifted High among others.
Little children danced, sang and beat tambourines as they joined with adults in praise and worship to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Noting that his message could aptly be entitled God Is Greater Than Your Situation, Codrington spoke of the faith of the Shunammite woman who sought and received “healing” from the prophet Elisha for her dead son.
He noted that after the child died, this woman did not call her husband or the doctor. Rather, she called on God through His servant Elisha.
“She called on the man of God although it was not new moon or Sabbath. [Likewise,] we can call on God any time.
“She had faith in God, and so as the young servant saddled his ass, she told him “drive and go forward”. It was not a time to tarry,” Codrington preached.
“She was desperate to see the man of God who would put her in contact with God Himself.”
He further reasoned that the Shunammite woman knew in whom she had believed and believed God was able to do all things.
“The child was dead, yet she said it would be well,” he reiterated, advising his congregation to realize that no matter what was working against them, “God is greater than anything.”
“When Jesus is for you, who can be against you?
“There is nothing too hard for God to do, but many times God does nothing for us because we do not believe. This woman believed,” he noted.
Codrington also reminded his listeners of Moses and the children of Israel as they faced the Red Sea before them and their enemies behind them. He told them just as Moses used the rod to part the Red Sea, they too possessed power given to them by God.
“Situations will come; storms will arise in your lives, just as they did when the disciples were on the Sea of Galilee. Although Jesus was in the boat, water entered the boat, but it did not sink. As long as God is in your situation, everything will come out right,” he remarked.
As he brought his sermon to a close, Codrington offered words of advice to the congregation: “Drive and go forward; don’t sit at ease in Zion any longer for there is much to do. No matter what you are going through, God can fix every situation in your life. Trust Jesus. All is well!”
