Fire leaves 7 homeless

THE FIREBUG STRUCK in the densely populated area of Park Road, Bush Hall, St Michael, just after 5:30 p.m. yesterday, razing two houses and leaving seven people homeless.
Two tenders from the Barbados Fire Service’s Probyn Street headquarters and one from Arch Hall, under the command of Divisional Officer Glanville Collins, responded to the blaze and encountered two problems, a non-functioning hydrant due to low pressure and a large crowd of gawkers.
Police were required to get the crowd to move back to allow the 11 fire officers to prevent the blaze from spreading to other houses, with some residents assisting with garden hoses to douse the hungry flames.
