DEAR CHRISTINE: Should I end it after 7 years?

Dear Christine,
FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS I have been in love with a guy and have given my all to him.
For several months I noticed that he has been staying away quite often. I tried not to pay much attention to this until recently.
I have been told that when he says he is at home resting after a hard day’s work, he is in fact at a certain woman’s house and he usually stays until the early hours of the morning. Sometimes
he goes directly to work from there.
I have questioned him about this. He did not deny it outright but he says I am the only one for him and that when he talks to anyone else he tells them about me.
Christine, should I end this relationship or should I wait and see if this thing with him and this woman will pass? I am anxiously awaiting your response.
– C. P.

Dear C. P.,
You’ve waited seven years too long for this man to settle down in a legal union with you. Why are you going to give him more of your time and energy? If you can tolerate the current situation – with him spending his nights with this woman – who is to say that he won’t keep on going from woman to woman while you live in hope that someday everything will work out for the better?
It may hurt having to let go but, if truth be told, you’re not happy right now with the way things are. Do you think he will change to become the person he was when you first met him? I doubt it very much.
If I were in your position, I would get interested in other things and people to take my mind off him and tell him to go altogether.
– CHRISTINE
