There was more agony for Alexandra School yesterday.
This time it was on the football field in the final of the Barbados Secondary Schools Football League Senior Tournament.
And their under-fire head teacher Jeff Broomes was on hand at the National Stadium to see the pain of the School’s Under-19 footballers who lost on penalties to the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic after the scores were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.
With Alexandra taking a 1-0 lead at half-time, a cheerful Broomes was seen chatting with some of the teachers and students of the Queen’s Street, St Peter school, and supporting the footballers in the Louis Lynch?Stand. But that joy turned to sorrow when SJPP equalized and later won the penalty shoot-out, 4-3.
