Rain forces racing postponement

Persistent rain early yesterday had the final say on the Barbados Turf Club’s tenth and final day of the first racing season at the Garrison Savannah.
The eight race card that was to feature the first jewel of the Barbados Triple Crown – the 63rd running of the Barbados Guineas for West Indian bred three-year-olds over 1 570 metres.
Race course stewards took the decision to postpone the day’s proceedings around 10:15 a.m.
The stewards handed the matter over to the Barbados Turf Club’s board of directors who decided that the programme would now be run off on Saturday.
The second season is due to start on May 11. (LY)
