A full-blown strike may have been postponed but the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) is calling for all Drainage Division workers to gather at the Government agency’s Pine, St Michael home on Tuesday morning and not leave until they get answers.
Initial reports indicated the workers would go on strike if they had not been paid by yesterday, but instead senior industrial relations officer Wayne Walrond instructed the nearly 15 workers who attended a meeting at the NUPW’s headquarters in Dalkeith, St Michael, to go to the Drainage Division and spread the word among their co-workers.
“Whether you are members of the union or not, all workers should assemble there and that is where we will press the bells to get answers about your salary,” he said.
General secretary Denis Clarke said the gathering would take place at 7 a.m. (CA)
