24-hour delay

FACTIONS WITHIN the Social Partnership appear to be on different pages concerning lengthening Barbados’ hours of business.
On the one hand, Tony Walcott, executive director of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, said the issue had been tabled but was not currently on the agenda, indicating he did not know the reason for it.
“That is on the back burner for whatever reason but if we are to be a service society, it has to be done,” he said.
Walcott said other things had been attracting the attention of the partnership, such as the Holidays With Pay Act and harassment in the workplace so it was possible those were the reasons.
