KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Anti Doping Commission (JADCO) today banned two of the island’s athletes after hearings on doping infractions.
Sprinter Sherone Simpson was banned from competition for 18 months and will not be eligible to compete until December this year. Discus thrower Allison Randall received a two-year ban and won’t be back in action before June 2015.
The suspension period dates back to June 2013 last year when Simpson tested positive for oxilofrine at the Jamaica Trials.
Randall tested positive for a banned diuretic. Both will miss this year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Overall, eight Jamaican athletes tested positive for prohibited substances last year.
JADCO is still to deliver the verdict on former world record holder Asafa Powell who also tested positive for oxilofrine at Trials. (Observer/SAT)
