Duty shock

MINISTER OF INDUSTRY Donville Inniss has expressed concern over a situation in St Lucia where a duty of up to 70 per cent can be charged on imports from Barbados and some other Caribbean islands.
And he is saying that Barbados has a right to do what it has to do to protect its industry.
Noting that he was advised of the change last Friday, Inniss said he intended to ensure that this was “quickly addressed within the regional arrangements that we have”.
“St Lucia will do what they have to do to protect their industry and their right, and we will have to do what we have to do to protect our industry as well,” he said in a Starcom?Network report yesterday.
