SEVERAL?temporary prison officers have not been paid since last November, causing unease among the staff at HMP Dodds.
So serious has the situation become that management is understood to have approached the Prison Officers Association (POA) to provide loans to the officers until they receive their salaries.
The SUNDAY?SUN?was unable to reach president of the POA, Donald Connell, but a committee member, who did not want to be identified because he was not authorised to speak, confirmed that they were awaiting a list of names from management so that the POA could determine if it had the funds to grant the loan request.
The source added that this was not the only financial issue affecting the prison, indicating that prison officers on the permanent staff had not been paid increments since 2005.
