Why does thou make me see wrongs and look upon trouble? Destruction and violence are before me, strife and contention arise so the law is slacked and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous. So justice goes forth perverted. (Habakkuk 1:3-4)
Can anyone tell me what is happening to my beloved Barbados these days?
With all of this violence in Barbados one wonders why those youngsters between the ages of 15 and 35 are being caught up in violent crimes? Are they practising to make Barbados the Wild West? Do they want a Brooklyn, New York situation in Barbados or turn our country into a Jamaica or a Trinidad and Tobago where so many people die each year as a result of gun-related murders.
One cannot help but ask where are those people who are involved in gun crime (murders) getting the guns from? It seems that guns can be had like salt-bread.
It amazes me how a 20-year-old can be in possession of a gun. Where is he or she getting it from? Are they trained how to use these guns? The answer is no. The hurtful thing is that those who are using those guns do not have any concern for others and will use them any place or time. Too often people do things without thinking how many persons they will affect by their action. There are too many innocent persons who are suffering as a result of such actions.
The way things are going, where violence is concerned these days, I am very glad for the time at which I was born. For things are not going to get any better, but rather worse. By that time I will be in Paradise awaiting the final judgement of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Something has to be wrong when so many of our young people are involved in crime at such an early age and there are so many shooting incidents that are rocking our society. We have to stand up and make a statement against the senseless crime and violence in our beloved Barbados.
Come on, all right thinking people in Barbados and stand up and say enough is enough. Stop this nonsense. Stop it, for too many people are wasting their productive life in prison.
