A day for the dads

Fathers were celebrated yesterday with events around the country.
At the All Saints Church Hall inSt Peter, the Friends of All Saints held their first “family day” for Father’s Day, one of a handful of events visited by a NATION team. Coordinator Tyrone Greene said they had been holding Father’s Day luncheons since 2008 but decided this year to broaden the scope.
“Today may be Father’s Day but we did not want to promote it as only for fathers but for the whole family as well in the same vein as how Mother’s Day is promoted. We don’t only want men to come out but women and children too,” he said.
Greene said this would help to bring the community closer together, especially young fathers who sometimes felt left out of families.
