SPORTS IN BARBADOS will be the focus tonight when the Nation Publishing Co. Limited hosts Nation Talk Back, its first town hall meeting for the year.

Beginning at 7 p.m. at the Hugh Springer Auditorium, Solidarity House, St Michael Sports Editor Haydn Gill will moderate on the topic “How do we transform sports in Barbados from amateur status to professional level?”

The panel will be headed by Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture, The Honourable Stephen Lashley, MP; Assistant General Secretary of the Barbados Olympic Association, Cameron Burke; President of the Barbados Football Association, Randy Harris and the first Vice President and Chairman of Cricket Development of the Barbados Cricket Association, Conde Riley.

Gill is looking forward to another exciting and interactive session: “Sports is very dear to our hearts, whether it is cricket, football, car racing or surfing and this is certainly a topic which I think is very relevant at this juncture.

“We have an experienced and informed panel who will speak on current sporting issues but the forum is really an avenue for the general public to come out and share their views and thoughts on the way forward,” he said.

There will also be live blogging of the Nation Talkback town hall meeting which is free to the public. (PR)
